Lobby or reception in BALTAZÁR Boutique Hotel

Excellent boutique hotel. Perfect for a quiet stylish stay in a great location to appreciate the stunning beauty of Buda and yet still within easy reach of the entire city. Very comfortable rooms, friendly helpful staff, good restaurant with great breakfasts. Also walking distance to a good variety of other restaurants, including the brilliant Pierrot (five minute walk), owned by the same family who own the BALTAZÁR. The manager of the hotel kindly arranged a booking for us when it appeared there was no availability. It was our first visit to Budapest but to be honest couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else, so no hesitation in recommending !

Restaurant/places to eat in BALTAZÁR Boutique Hotel

The hotel is a little off the beaten tourist track, but it is in the Castle in Budapest and only a 5 minute walk to the centre of the castle. It's quiet, with their own restaurant on site, and the rooms are superbly decorated. It is unique and provides competition for the top brand 4 and 5 star hotels. It's a completely different experience, and hotel becomes a very memorable part of your stay in Budapest. I've stayed in the both 1 and 5 star hotels and everything in between, and this is really near the top for me. I will be definitely be returning.

Lobby or reception in BALTAZÁR Boutique Hotel

- The location was great - tucked away in a quiet road but with restaurants within walking distance & a bus stop with regular buses across to Pest. It worked well for us. - Our room was very comfortable & roomy with good air con (which we appreciated with the heat!) - service at the property was warm & welcoming especially during our check in, when we were given lots of helpful information including how to use the BudapestGo app which was brilliant for using public transport (which we did a lot!)

Street view in BALTAZÁR Boutique Hotel

This hotel is amazing! Staff were amazing! We arrived very late, around midnight and they were kind enough to allow us a free late checkout. In the morning, we had a phonecall asking us to move our car as it was about to be clamped (our fault, it was late when we parked and parked in the wrong place!) The lovely guy on reception stood by our car until we came to move it, ensuring we didn't get clamped! Absolutely above and beyond!!! Rooms were amazing, so unique! Very clean! Beds were huge! Breakfast was good too! Being inside the castle walls was amazing too, so beautiful! The loft suite was perfect for families too.

View (from property/room) in BALTAZÁR Boutique Hotel

I broke my tradition of booking a room in the city center, and it turned out to be the best decision I could have made. Baltazár is located in the Castle District of Budapest, so if you arrive by car, you’ll need to pass through the barrier at the castle gate. I actually saw this as a plus — it made me feel like my car was in a secure location. I traveled with my two dogs, and the hotel welcomed them without any objections — a rare exception in Budapest, or even in Hungary. What’s more, when it turned out that the booking site had incorrectly stated that the pet fee was included in the room price, the hotel didn’t charge me. That’s what I call excellent customer focus. I was even able to choose the room I preferred. It was spacious, cozy, and high-class — a perfect blend of comfort and style. You can really tell that attention to detail matters here. Breakfast wasn’t included in the room rate, but we decided to enjoy a slow, easy morning and try it anyway. No regrets — it was delicious and abundant.

Lounge or bar in BALTAZÁR Boutique Hotel

Very friendly host greeted us, both rooms were set up as doubles, when we requested one twin, one double, but htye remedied this very quickly. Hotel is in a good location next to the Fisherman's Bastion (Halászbástya) and Buda tower. They gave us guidance how to travel on the buses as well after we go there. The hotel is also near to other restaurants also. With the weather being so hot as well, it was good to have air conditioning in the hotel as well. We had breakfast at the hotel and the selection was very good.

Restaurant/places to eat in BALTAZÁR Boutique Hotel

The location was very quiet and historic. The building interior was modern, warm and comfortable. I loved having a rich breakfast at the cafe outdoors every morning. I had the power breakfast option and there was plenty to choose from. Andras was exceptionally friendly and very helpful, and the other staff were equally professional and personable. The room was above and beyond. The bed was firm and cushions very comfortable. The room had light blocking curtains so you could enjoy daylight and views all around during the day and sleep well at night. There was easy elavator access though I took the stairs. There was a fridge, safe, coffeemaker and hairdryer in the room but no iron. The Bus was easily accessible and frequent but definitely get the pass because the hotel is far from the busy hustle of Pest and walking to and from it can be a bit tiring as its mostly uphill and on cobblestones. Take bus 16 from Deak Ter M. Its the same intersection where bus 100 to and from the airport stops. Its not far from the M2 metro either. In the evening I gravitated away from busy Pest so I tried 3 restaurants in the chain that Balthazar is part of, all in Buda - Balthazar, 21 and Pest-Buda and felt I got excellent service and good food. It felt like I was being taken care of, in a way, by a local. It made the choices easier for someone travelling solo. One last suggestion: abandon the comfort of your room one morning to watch the sunrise at Fisherman's Bastion. This is definitely a perk of being up on the quiet side of Buda. The streets here are always quite and feel perfectly safe. I will gladly come again.
